Cool looking snakes and supposedly non-aggressive, but I still wouldn't be picking it up.

I'm not scared of snakes and like having them around, but I'm not touching one of those and would kill it instantly if it was anywhere it might come face to face with young kids. The crocodile hunter was pretty familiar with how "gentle" stingrays are right up to the point that he took a barb to his chest cavity.

Cool snake.....I would love to see one in the wild. That would conclude the venomous Texas quad; rattlesnake, copperhead, cottonmouth, coral....
Not naming sub-species of course.....

Is playing with one of these really worth the risk?

if your confidant id say so... From the folks iv herd that handle them they say you almost have to injure one to get it to bite
tell that to the young man that got bit a few years ago in Blanco park

almost is never a guarantee

Considering the large doses of antivenom may no longer exist, http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/alex-hern/2012/10/us-runs-out-coral-snake-anti-venom , I'd go with at least a pair of leather gloves.

A little unrational ....snakes are very beneficial....rats and mice are much worse to have around...
