Going on my first moose hunt in October and if I get one would like to have it mounted; problem is it wouldn't fit in my current place or office.
If I bring the horns back with me(we're driving up there); would you guys recommend having the hide tanned in Canada and then shipped to me so I can have it mounted when I get a place that it fits?
Also whats a ballpark cost of having a moose shoulder mounted?

I'd tan the hide there, you dont want to chance the hide getting warm and slipping. If you are worried about getting it through doorways then go with detachable antlers on your mount.

Ballpark cost on a moose mount will be $1200-1500. You are right - they need lots of room. Basically think size of a longhorn steer. I didn't do detachable antlers and didn't have any doorway issues. But would probably help in setup process. Took 3 of us to put mine on the wall (kinda high on the wall) - I remember thinking if I didn't hit the bolt in the wall the first time as we lifted it we might be in trouble. Should go without saying, but find a stud and put your anchor in deep.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Good looking mount; length of inside spread and how many points? Thanks Wyoming Shiras. Only 40" spread (he had an upswept "Mercury's heel" rack). 19 points and very nice palms all around. Was glad to see him.

I drove to alberta and killed a bull last winter. We pulled a 12ft trailer with a box freezer and generator on it, as well as about 6 Yeti's. Put the hide in the freezer, meat in cooler and ran the generator the entire drive home. Hide stayed frozen solid all the way back to Tx

I went with a skull mount on mine due to a lack of room in my house. Looks pretty impressive. If you go with the skull mount you don't have to worry about the hide. I drove up to Canada for mine and had quite the load with the skull/ horns and the meat. By the way moose meat is exceptional.

The guy I'm going hunting with has been up there 3 times and were driving vs. flying for the sole purpose of bringing all the meat back.... Yes moose meat is awesome and by far my favorite of all game. My buddy has one of those yeti knock off coolers that's giant and is made specifically to fit in the bed of a truck so were good to go as far as meat transportation...... At least I think we are, we each have a tag so if the hunt goes REALLY well there is going to be a lot of knife work when we get back. Me and my buddy are pretty handy with knives - I took meat cutting as an elective in college and my buddy worked his way through medical school as a butcher; and our guide has his own processing shop set up in his work shop 2mi from the float plane base. (fly in hunt) https://www.wilderness-air-escapes.com/hunting/moose-hunting-canada/The guy I am going hunting with is shown holding the horns from his bull 2 years ago in the last pic in the slide show.

Which area in Wyoming did you get that shiras Nogalus and who mounted it for you? You might want to drop off the hide at Moyle Mink and Tannery in Idaho for tanning. Great service and affordable.

Drew the only NR random draw Area 1 (Bighorn Mtns) tag back in 2005. Archery kill but the tag was any weapon. Outfitter recommended local taxidermist - he happened to be in the bar we were celebrating in and we made a deal. Big Bear taxidermy (I forget his name). He did a good job, crated/packed it well too and shipped it to my door.
