I see they offer a 6V unit with barrel and legs for $145. Anyone have experience with their units? They have a specific patent that when the motor isnt running the spin plate is pushed up against the hopper and then descends again when time to feed. Seems great as long as it isnt one more thing to go wrong and have to fix. Thanks in advance for any comments.

We operate a dozen of the 12 volts, but the landowner provided them, such as they were. That's the only reason we stuck with Spintech. I put varmint cages on each one; don't rely on the closing to keep coons out. We've replaced a lot of shafts and motors, but I couldn't tell you how old they were when we got on the place. White lithium spray grease is needed on that shaft periodically.
There are lower maintenance feeders out there.

Right now we have mostly spincast and on-time (classic analog and 2 of the new digitals). I like both of these brands but they run about $145 for just motor.

I have 2 Game Master feeders that ran with the 6volt Spin Tech units. One was 3 yr old when last springs flood drowned it. Replaced it with the 12v unit and couldn't be happier. When the other 6 volt dies I'll do the same with it. Nothing wrong with the 6 volt units except the housing is plastic. Still have to keep the shafts lubed.
