So I had a very close call today, I got on a group of birds this morning here in North East Texas and had them gobbling for at least an hour off the roost, had to change set ups 3 times before one would come in, finally I had a big gobbler make his way in and he was within 30 yards and he wasn't coming any closer, I had one shot at his head and I put the bead on him squeezed the trigger and heard "click" he turned and started clucking and I jacked another shell in and shot and missed and then all the gobblers went quiet, so my question is do you think I could go back in the morning and try them again and have a pretty good chance at redemption?

Yes. I hunt with a buddy in OK every year, we consistently kill multiple birds off of one place in a day. Usually goes like this, someone gets lucky in the morning and drops one, the remaining birds run off. Later that afternoon we go back by the same place and they will be back. Next hunter gets into position and usually gets a bird. Obviously its not a guarantee, but definitely possible. Good luck, shoot strait!

Thanks for the support Wilhunt, went out this morning and nothing was gobbling but I did have a hen slip into my set up this morning but unfortunately there was no gobbler that showed up later on with her but I know they are in there!

I have had them ignore the calls and had 3 actually turn around and run the other direction. Couple of days ago I was calling but not too much and only about every 15 minutes. finally had a gobbler show up about 80 yards away. He slowly came my way and I called a bit more...then he saw my decoys and he literally ran to them and I got him. Your time is coming.

Stay with it, never know when they will respond. Might try a different call or vary up the sounds you are making.
