Never been much of a handgun guy but got a wild hair for a Dan Wesson or Kimber 1911 in 10mm,. I have a couple revolvers in .357 and .44, just lusting over the 1911 for some reason, which one is better?

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, my Rock Island 10mm 1911 is saweet! I have several 10mms in the 1911 platform. Colt Delta Elites are really nice too. The Razorback Dan Wesson is one beautiful piece too. Kimbers are meh... I wont own any more Kimbers. One of my dream guns is the Smith and Wesson M610 revolver in 10mm.

I own a Kimber 10mm and it's a really nice shooter.

Dan Wesson I would expect to be a level up from the Kimber, quality and price wise.

I have shot a few of the 1911 in 10mm. I like them a lot. The 1911's are heavier than my Glocks, and soaked up the 10mm recoil a little better. I do like anything 10mm, though!

Thanks, about to burn $1400.. for something I know I wont shoot much but, better to have it and not need it, rather than not have it and need it.

When u get it, buy some of Chads loads. He knows his stuff, and its waaay better than off the shelf 10mm. Fairly priced as well.

I used to shoot nothing but 40 S&W. I bought a G20 and G29 in 10mm, then it took off. That was most of what I shoot. I consolidated all my pistols to 40 or 10mm, to keep the same bullets for ease of loading ammo (except one Glock 21 in 45). It's a great round!

If you need some good, full power 10mm ammo, let me know. I load my 10mm ammo to standard max pressures. I don't sell any pistol ammo (generally) except for 10mm, because of the lack of good quality 10mm ammo on the market. Most factory ammo is either watered down 40 cal, or 10mm +P ammo, which will damage Glocks and cause feeding/chambering issues.

Appreciate the offer Chad but I hand load for precision (or try to) also, haven't bought factory ammo in years except for shot guns. I load for a few people I shoot with, used to load for anyone that requested but couldn't manage all the request with my normal job unfortunately then, my wife made a couple thousand comments so I only load for myself and 3 others. I still sharpen knives between work, hand loading, spending time with my four kids and wife, hunting, and shooting matches when I can (F-class currently using 6BR and just started with .284win). I'll let you know if I have any issues with loading the 10mm.

Going to be a expensive month, gotta get the gun before her B-day. I don't think she would like a 1911 either unless its full of diamonds.

I had a Kimber Eclipse 10mm and "stupid me" sold it . It was a very nice pistol and shot well. Something came up and I needed the money . Now I am reduced to owning a Block Gen. 4 Model 20 .

I know right.

Love me some 1911, and this 10 mm thing has my attention.

You might also consider a S&W 1046/1086. If the polymer thing is a turn off.

It was created for the FBI after that Miami deal if I remember right. They are all steel pistols, and the craftsmen ship is excellent. I have the 1046 and it is a pleasure to shoot and recoil is very mild considering the cartridge. It is far more accurate than I am too.

I'll probably get blasted, but kimber is way over priced. They gotta pay for those ads some how. I have had a few they are accurate and haven't failed but for what they charge they cut corners with mim parts. None of mine have failed but I have less than 500 rds thru the 2 I still have. Plus that kimber barrel rust is impossible to stop, and that is beyond annoying to me for what they charge.

That is why I mentioned the sig. out of all the production 1911's they are probably the best value. Very little mim parts, there extraction design is more reliable than the standard 1911 design imo, match grade barrels, and I like the flat top on the slide. It's not a purist 1911 but the closest thing to it would be the Wesson or sti at $400+ more (If i recall correctly). The rock island is a tank fit and finish are why it has the price point, but pound for pound they are hard to beat for a no frills value 1911. Get one you won't regret owning the 10mm

Looks like the cartridge has little trouble planting a bullet well within a hog.

Congrats on the thermal.

I got the itch after cerakoting one for a friend, then test firing after I put it back together, love at first shot. Don't tell my wife. She's just now finding out about my last .284 build, she wasn't convinced it cost $300.00
