"D" is a good boy. He and the girls get along great. He has an appointment for neutering next Wednesday. Going to go ahead and have them groom him and give him a summer haircut while he is there to save me the trouble.

He had bonded well with me as the Alpha (took his cue from the girls as I spent a lot of time with all 3 of them together the first few days). He is allowed to run with them off the leash during exercise time because he stays with them on my place and comes when called.

He is still in a kennel because of his "man" issues but should be ready to be in the big pen with the others by next Friday or so after he recuperates from the procedure.

He has a nice new house waiting for him in the pen, but it was too big for that temporary kennel so he is making do with that old one for the time being.

up Glad he is fitting in. I'll be thinking about him next Wednesday. bolt

Thank you for taking him, he is a good boy and deserves to be in a home that will hunt him. I hated to get rid of him just because he doesn't like the Mule and had always said I would just keep him and let him be a pet, then it set in this past season when we left him at home while we all went hunting (wife was home), I decided it would be best to start thinking about finding him a home with a walking bird hunter. FYI, I gave a GSP to a nice family a few years ago that was the same situation, wouldn't / didn't like to hunt with the Mule, he loved her as did his kids and wife but they let her run free some and sure enough she disappeared after he had her a little over a year, my wife cried for weeks when she heard Dixie was missing (we didn't find out until she had already been gone for a while) He never found her.

Give him a big ol pat on the head from me and tell him he's a good boy. And that I said quit humping his new sisters.

BTW, not sure if I told you but he responds well to a whistle.

I foster bird dogs, and every new male tries to hump the other dogs at first.
It doesn't take but a couple of days for them to figure out its not allowed.
Between me and the other dogs correcting them, the bad habit stops.

Don't be surprised if you still have to correct him a time or two. Even neutered dogs will hump.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

You're right that sucker can eat. I think he would eat a whole bag at a time if I put it out there. smile

I told you man. You can feed him 3 times a day and he will eat again like he hasn't eaten in a week. And never gain an ounce of weight / fat.
