I don't mind whitnessing a miss if you're walking and miss a freehand shot. Or if you are hurried and miss one out of the back of a vehicle. It pisses me off when someone misses an animal sitting in a blind with a rest and plenty of time, even kids. However I have no patience. One of the 14 year old boys wounded 2 bucks this year hunting my stand. Sounds like you may have an anger problem  I've been to the management classes. I guess they didn't take.

I missed a quality 8 pointer on Opening Day in 2004. I grazed him, thought I'd hit him in the heart. Long shot. He mule kicked and ran low. I was very depressed. I thought I'd ruined my season.
2 days later, on an all day sit, in 94 degree weather.....he came back. That time, I did not miss.
When I looked at his front leg, he had a nice burn mark from the bullet. He was just a little farther than I thought. I got a nice range finder after that. Lesson learned.....
Wounding a deer is terrible, but it happens to even the best hunters.

One of the 14 year old boys wounded 2 bucks this year hunting my stand. It doesn't bother me in the least passing up chance shots that might result in an unrecovered, wounded deer. But I can understand, though not condone, a kid trying to see what he/she can hit. Really? To "see" what he can hit? This implies that they aren't prepared when they go to the stand. Children should be taught how to shoot so when they pull the trigger you know they have the ability to make the shot and they should not be able to take shots that are beyond what they've trained for. I understand that buck fever can and most likely will enter the equation but training can help them overcome this. And then if they miss or wound a deer it will not be from a lack of preparation. Agree; child or adult should be proficient at shooting before being able to hunt  Yep!

Practice practice practice. I make all of my kids nieces and nephewes shoot my 17 hmr tons. I make them shoot at 100 yards till it gets boring shooting coke cans golf balls etc. When they hunt they use my creedmoore or 22-250 etc. they have never missed. I do the same. The more practice the better.
