thought it might have been from the Trinity river ... one of my hunting leases has a mile or more frontage on the Trinity and I've thought about wetting a line there.

where did you catch those? Richland Chambers i caught many a fish out of Chambers Creek and Richland Creek before the lake came in. We used to own a lot of the property there that is now underwater

We ran in some saltwater gafftop catfish at a national field trial that beat all the other fish. Always heard gafftop were good to eat, but this is the first time I ever read a report that someone had actually eaten them and enjoyed them. Would have to go some to beat yellow or blue catfish in my book. Gaftop will beat the hell out of yellow cat all day long without even trying!

Live sunfish and bluegill... A neighbor fishes in my pond for bluegill and baits land lines in the creek behind his house. He caught a couple of 25 pounders.

The test run was successful and now is D-day -1 for the reunion...... Cooking for a family reunion as we speak....pig went on at 7am this morning ....rolling along nicely at 225 degrees...should be ready to pull off about 11 am tomorrow morning... Fish is thawing......briskets are marinating..... Two briskets joining the pig around 1am to come off about the same time as the pig so they can rest for a couple hours before slicing and serving..... Then we jump on the friers....40 lbs of catfish plus fries and fried jalapeños.....(as demonstrated here) Everything should be ready to serve tomorrow at 2pm..... Gonna be a long couple days....if I survive I'll post pics after I recuperate a little ......
