A boar 'growled' at me last week on this property and I venged to find him this week. I don't know that I found the exact same boar, but if not, I found a good substitute...

That just goes to show how tough those big hogs are. I've shot a few I thought were done and they got up and ran off.

Nicely done. Was the first shot a little low in the neck? Yes, but it wasn't supposed to be in the neck, though it was supposed to be low. I figured that with the strong cross wind and the direction of travel that the bullet would impact farther back. However, the hog was close and I gave to much credit to the effects of wind and movement. I wanted the shot to be as low as possible given the ridgeline and proximity to the cattle. However, given the blood spurts, it was a lethal shot, just not lethal fast enough.

I thought for the neck shot was going to kill him and it probably would have, but I ended up dumping a bunch of 45 into the hog.

I'm sure envious of your ability to do what you do with those hogs. I'm still stuck with my old school digital night vision...but maybe someday I'll move up. I still manage to pop some regularly as is, but not with your style!
