Most of you that would be interested in these probably already know about them being listed, but thought I'd post this here for any that might not. Someone has gotten all of the USMC CQBP 1911 pistols that have been turned in to Colt due to problems with the cerakote finish. It's theorized that Colt themselves is selling them after having replaced them with ion bond finished pistols. They come with an authentication letter from Colt. There are threads about these on the 1911 and Colt forums (among others). I resisted for a time but finally caved in. Normally I'm a stickler for condition but this is the last US military issued 1911 and the price will do nothing but go up. Many people have been buying multiples for resale. I don't know how many the seller has, just that they are listed in lots of 50. When one lot has been sold, another is listed. They've been listed continuously since Friday night. Several hundred have been sold so far. You do however have to get a Gold membership at Gunbroker to purchase one. For the listings, just search Colt M45A1 1911 USMC CQBP 45ACP 5" 7+1 on gunbroker.

Man this is pretty cool. And not a bad price. My cousin just finished serving in MARSOC and was telling me about these. I wonder if they would go up in value like the S&W 1046 10mm that I have that was FBI issued?

I'm certain they will. Some people have been buying 30-40 of them at a time intending I'm sure to turn them for a profit. Shoot the "regular" USMC marked guns in the Pelican case sell for $4k or more. Sure these aren't in that kind of condition and I'm sure won't come in Pelican cases but they have really been issued, been there and done that. I'm surprised they are even available. Some will undoubtedly be refinished to look as new again but mine will be left the way the last devildog had it when turned in.

I'm sure they might go up a bit in value later on but Return on investment won't be that great I wouldn't think. Could be wrong though.

That cerakote actually looks really sweet...like a battle-worn finish.

Yep, they ran out yesterday. The seller replied to someone though that they hope to get more in. They've also listed a few onesies from I guess people that couldn't/wouldn't pay. One shop has already listed one for sale on GB even though they have not received it yet - bidding is up to $2100 on that one already. http://www.gunbroker.com/item/631388890 ugh! Looks like they are out.

Do any of you actually have one in your possession, yet? There is a lot of supposition that it is a scam based off of a few potential buyers' interaction with them and the uncertainty of their location (Gunbroker has them collecting taxes in three different states). I know of at least one buyer that decided it was a scam and has been unable to get his money back.
On another note, I was an augmentee with the first team to get these 1911s issued, and they were universally hated for being unreliable and excessively heavy with the full-width Picatinny rail.

CMP has been trying to get 1911s released for sale for years with no luck so I would be weary before I dropped that much coin.

This was confirmed by Colt as legit. Several people have spoken with Colt Customer Service in regards to them and Brent, the former head of the Colt Custom Shop confirmed it is legit. I'm not aware that anyone has received one yet - there are over 700 pistols to ship, Yesterday would have been the first day that shipments could begin due to the weekend. Mine is marked as payment received and FFL received but not yet shipped. These were sold by Gunbroker themselves thru the Gold member program so Gunbroker put their own name and reputation on the line here. As for sales tax being collected in 3 states - it is common practice for sales tax to be collected in any state an entity has operations in. Gunbroker is based in Atlanta and I'm assuming has offices or locations in the other 2 states as well. This was posted on another forumn...contract specified that pistols sent to Colt for replacement would NOT be returned to the Government. Colt resold them. The CQBP was referenced in an objection filed by the USG on behalf of the DoD and DHS, relating to Colt's Chapter 11 filing in 2015. In it, there is a declaration made by Lee E. Hoyland, the MARCORSYSCOM contracting officer who was responsible for administrating the contract. It stated that there were (at the time) 4036 pistols in inventory with defective Cerakote and that discussions were taking place with Colt concerning them. It was also stated that the contract included the standard commercial warranty. The warranty was also provided as an exhibit and some excerpts follow: "...the Company shall thereupon correct any defect, including nonconformance with the specifications, either at its option by repairing or replacing any defective or damaged parts of the Product." "Parts and equipment replaced under warranty will not be returned." The above would support what was posted by natronium777 that those sold were units taken back and replaced by Colt under warranty. There is nothing stated in the warranty that would prevent Colt from reselling them. Only Colt and the USMC will know the total replaced. If anyone's interested, here's the links to the objections: https://www.kccllc.net/coltdefense/document/1511296151009000000000007https://www.kccllc.net/coltdefense/document/1511296151221000000000001There was one listed on GB already being resold. The auction was ended today, 5 or 6 days early. I don't know if it was ended by GB who knew the seller wouldn't have the gun yet - or if someone made an offer the seller couldn't refuse. The price was up to $2200 when it ended (reserve not met). I think those that didn't get one will end up regretting it but that's just my thinking. If the other 3000+ pistols show up for sale (the seller did say they hope to get more), I would expect they won't be at the $1349 price which itself had been raised from $1295 for the first lot of 50 that was sold. The seller already knows that some people were willing to spend $2k plus from the other auction listing. The desire/price will only go up when pictures of the actual guns received go public along with photos of the authentication letter from Colt. I know I will definitely be posting pics when mine comes in! I do hope there will be more and they don't go up too much though. I have 2 sons, so still need to get another to pass one on to both of them. Earl
