I was cutting brush at my place in Carta Valley and seen this dude hanging out, what is he?

We always called them wood lizards because they hang around wood or brush piles. Just looked it up and Spiny lizard appears to be correct name for it up

We call them tree lizards. My heeler caught one a while back and it caused him to gag and throw up for an hour or so. He won't bother them now.

We used to have one that lived on the back porch. We could hand feed him crickets and grasshoppers. Neat critters.

Yep.

Very common lizard in Central Texas and the Hill Country. Don't know their exact range.

Very true.Alligator lizards are very unique. I had one when I was a youth. Very tame. The last one I saw was probably 20 years ago. I doubt if very few have ever seen one.

Awesome critters....TX Spiney Lizard as previously mentioned. They can get REALLY big, 7-8 inches.
