Gentlemen,
Looking to buy land or maybe even just lease some land near Dimebox, Lexington and Giddings area. Curious about any firsthand knowledge of quality of deer, other habitat and leads for any land or leases. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Craig

I don't have any leads for you but you can check out the Dime Box Sportsmans club Facebook page for an idea of the deer quality in our area.

I had a place in between Caldwell and Lexington in the Yegua bottoms.

Tons of deer and pigs, deer quality was good, but not great. We got a lot of bucks like the one pictured below, but not much of anything bigger. I had a 10pt that was about the same frame as the below deer that was probably the biggest buck I ever saw or got on camera. Every now and then you'd hear of someone shooting a buck that scored 140-150, but it'd really be a big deal. Deer were pretty big bodied though - those bottom areas have lots of nutrient.

I hunt in Giddings area,Lee county was in the first group of counties to do antler restriction-135 is a good buck for that area, numbers are very good at this point and plenty of pigs to keep your shooting dialed in.

I used to hunt north of Giddings off of 77. Never saw a hog. The deer where average with the occasional brute passing through. With the 13" rule I would seriously consider hunting doe in bow season.

How long ago? My place (sold it 5 years ago, bought it 8 years ago) was absolutely covered up in hogs, so it's hard to imagine they haven't spread all over the whole area by now.

I remember when you first bought that place. Did you end up buying something else?

Yes, bought a place in Bellville (Austin County) and also bought a place in Llano County in November.
