There are a lot of good box calls on the market I personally have a Lynch one side box that I personally prefer. I would say also that a push pull box call is good for a beginner if you try that type I would say look into Knight& Hale game calls for a good one.

I think a slate is pretty easy to learn...

I started with a diaphragm call because I know as little movement as possible is key with turkeys. Didnt take me long to figure it out.
