Gonna build a few blinds this year and wanted to see what things y'all "need" in the blind...Planning on 4x6 with window in each end and 2 up front with door in the back...Shelf on the front wall and maybe one side...Planning on doing fiberglass so they will be lightweight and easily moved around...

A storage shelf up high, but a shelf below the window for drinks, binos, etc, while hunting. And I have built my last with a door and windows that seal up. My wife freaks out when little creatures are running around in the blind.

Build the shelves with 3/4 stock with a 1x2 nailed on upright on the front. The little "lip" will keep stuff from falling off the shelf when you bump it. In the wasted dead space in the corners, add some small triangular shelves. Build a small 2 gun rack so it will fit in one of the corners. On the window shelves, use 1x4 and drill out drink size holes for cups, cans and bottles. The nail another 1x4 on the bottom of it. Line the holes with felt to reduce noise. I also lined the other shelves with felt, the 1x2 lip keeps the felt in place. Carpet on the floor and a couple of feet up the walls for sound deadener. We had curtains so we couldn't be sky lighted, but all they accomplished was hold dust to be put in the air when you moved them. I haven't tried this, but the small travel trailer builders use builders foam with Titebond II glue, canvas, paint and other stuff as poorman's fiberglass. You might want to read about it at this link. http://tnttt.com/viewforum.php?f=24&sid=7cdbd6499635be93055f3a9d431cd0eaMy thoughts are that you could build like they do through the construction phase, but at appling the canvas, you could use the fiberglass resin. The problem I see is that some resins will melt some of the builders foam. So you need tp be sure to use the correct resin. That info is available, but I can't remember where I found it.

full wrap around shelfs just below the windows... always nice to be able to prop your elbow up on the shelf when shooting and also keep snuff on it.

Ok, in this instance DC what exactly did you use for shelving? Because I already had it, I used 3/4" plywood, then I gave it a soaking coat of boiled linseed oil, then finished it with a coat of spar varnish. For the 1x2 front lip, I purchased treated 1x4 and ripped it in half.

make it tall enough to not bump your head. a couple of coat hooks to hang stuff but pay attention where you put them to not be a weapon used against you in the dark.
