Have some seeds germinating for chiles. I have to start them now indoors, heating pad underneath, for June planting. You all starting your gardens yet? We have a really short growing season in Wyoming so starting from seed is a challenge. Hopefully I'll have Mosco, 6-4, Espanola, Jalmundo and some early jalapenos. Ground is still too frozen to get shallots and garlic in. Plenty of time before our last frost though, that will be in April maybe May. Saw my brother in law was getting his garden ready during our hog hunt early March. I envy your fertile soil and long growing season.

I have a two week supply of store bought potatoes. The timing is just right. My red potatoes are now baseball size. These should carry me through September and have some for my neighbors. Children love to dig potatoes. My onions are ready to start bulbing. I can now use some of the tops. This will be my first potato and onion dish. This is a hill of straight neck yellow squash that I planted from seed. My cilantro is now going to seed. The blooms should bring bees. Has anyone ever toasted the seeds and used them as coriander? To bring out the fragrance in coriander, toast the seeds. Put them in a dry heavy skillet and set over medium heat for a few minutes until they become fragrant. Grind the whole seeds to release the spice's flavorful aromatic oils. Not to worry about running out of cilantro. Here's new cilantro coming up is some freshly tilled soil.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

We're happy to be above freezing all week, during the day. I think I can get the beds turned over for my shallots and garlic.
