Delivering some deer up North early this morning and saw a Mountian Lion crawl over a game fence like it was no big deal. He even perched on top for a minute. Incredible agility and awesome tail! First time I have personally seen one, it was incredible! This was on Hwy 83 North of 41 and Garvin's store. Anybody else spotted any in that area before?

We have them in Montell south of campwood not to far from their.

Had a lease off 83 between 41 and I-10 years ago. One of the guys on the lease saw one walk between his blind and feeder. I asked him why he didn't shoot it and he said he was stunned in disbelief and by the time he got his wits about him, it was gone.

Same area! Awesome. Yeah, it took me a minute to realize what i was seeing.

Wish I could see that. Sounds like an awesome experience. Thought I did in Coleman/Runnels County back in the late '80s, but it was so fast that I couldn't be sure. And lots of time since then.

No, we dart/capture exotics. A group to a fellow THFer.

My wifes uncle was a biologist with TPWD for 30 years and his specialty was Mountain Lions. The knowledge he has about these animals is astounding. I love sitting around the fire and listening to his stories about them.

Is Garvins store between Kerrville & Rocksprings?

Roughly, yes.

Very cool! Will need to keep my eyes open next time I'm out there! I hunt near Junction on 83 and near Rocksprings on 41.

I bet there are more around than most would believe, had never thought about one going over high fence but as strong and agile as they are I bet that would ne no problem.

We hunt there and have had family ranching in that area for a very long time.

They are out there. You don't see them often, but they're definitely out there.

I would be torn about shooting one if I saw it, but I think if I did not shoot it the ghosts of all my ranching relatives would come and get me.

My buddy hunts right on the Mason/Llano county line and he has seen a nice one out there. Beautiful country for one to run around in.

How far north of Garvin Store? Lions frequent that area fairly often as there is an abundance of game and more that adequate cover. Near the West Kerr Ranch?

Even though I admire this awesome cat as the apex predator in our great state and there is not a whole lot of them, I would shoot one in a heartbeat where I am at for there is to much livestock and not enough deer for one of those bad boys and us hunters.

Now if I lived in the hill country where the deer are plentiful and no livestock consideration, I would let it go unless it was a huge old trophy cat

Yeah, here in East Texas if I had one running around after my cows, I would hunt it down.

My current place is on the Gillespie/Llano County line west of Enchanted Rock. Horribly overpopulated with deer.

They had a big cat that stuck around for a couple weeks a few years back. Lot of people saw it, and then it vanished. Either moved on or made someone with a gun nervous. They run sheep out there, so I'm sure a big cat could pretty quickly wear its welcome thin.

We run sheep and goats. Big cat = whole lot less sheep and goats.

I have been trying to call one up in Montague county for years but I think it would take a miracle to ever see one. Awesome that you saw one, seems like it put on a show!

Just north of there, maybe 2-3 miles. Pretty sure around the Las Catarinas ranch. Looked when we came back hoping it hung up in the fence, but yeah right. Lol it was smooth moving getting up that fence.

It was awesome to see, but certainly wouldn't have complained if i could have taken it out and looked at it in my living room every day.

there have been sightings in Bastrop county for 25yrs+, I have not seen, one ran across Watts lane in front of my wife.

I've always wanted to see one live. Never have. Seen one shortly after my grandfather killed it. Seen another one that attacked my great grandfather and was made into a throw rug. Spent countless hours and days out in West Texas and never seen one.

Then my wife saw one as she was coming back from my daughter's cross country meet just outside of Waco. I was still at the dang meet.
