I have a friend sending me a foxpro shockwave to use for the next few weekend's on a friend's place that is having a bad yote problem.
I am new to yote hunting and want to learn and do it the correct way.
Next weekend I have some guys going with me that has a LOT of experience yote calling, but this weekend I am going to give it a go by myself.
Using night vision and thermal as well.
Thanks!

I love my FoxPro. One thing that I learned was not to turn it up to loud. IF you start off to loud you can actually scare something off.

Jackrabbit in distress played continuously for 45 minutes with lots of visibility generally works for me. If not I find a new spot and try again. Some people will disagree about playing it continuously but it works for me so I stick to it.

You plan on getting into filming predator shows for Web shows? Not in general. A ranch who we have worked with is having a yote problem and asked me to help out. I informed him that Iwoul dnot be the best person for the job, but could bring in people who could get it done. This weekend I'm going there to have him show me where the yotes have been spotted and get a lay of the outside of his fence. Since I am there I might as well give it a shot. Then next weekend I have the experienced people coming with me. I will film that becuase It should fit nicely with my new theme of following along as I learn more ect.. I will take some video of the self hunt this weekend, but only to use it in the actual episode I will do as to the difference in someone with no experience vs someone with experience ect.

I'd wait till the next weekend. You could very easily educate a bunch of dogs before someone who knows what they are doing even gets a chance at then. Be patient and learn first hand at the side of those who have done it before.

Also - Might seem obvious but since you never done it before - don't shoot a coyote wearing a collar , hint that's not a coyote ...

Heck, go out there and make some noise at them. If you mess up, and educate a few, remember what you did. If the guys you are hunting with next week have some experience they will know how to approach it differently to maybe get them back in.
I've always thought educating coyotes was overplayed. While there is no question that they do learn, and the same set will seldom work 2 weeks in a row, in a month it might. In other words the education isn't permenant, and doesn't create super coyotes that are un-callable.

Went out, and the weather got real bad - high winds and rain. Plus most of the hunting area was flooded out.
We ended up just going our and shooting a few rabbits int eh rain.
Around 10pm the rain stopped and clouds broke with a bright moon out. We started to hear them from a distance and went to the back side of the ranch.
Started with a lone female call then waited a few mins then did a young male answer call - Then we got some responses and waited..
then I did a few short 3-4 min sets of a few distress calls waiting 5 mins in between. Then I ended it with a den raid call.
Nothing came but it was flooded pretty good and they may have been on the other side of the flooded creek.
Will go back in a few weeks to try it again.
We will see
