Was wondering if the deer are dropping antlers already in the Ozona area near Sheffield? I'll be heading out there in about 2wks to top off feeders and looking for sheds. I have a Cotton seed feeder setup in my feed pen. I'm hoping to find some sheds there.

Our deer in the Mason-Menard area are shedding much earlier than normal, by about three weeks. I wonder if that its true for the rest of the state.

still a lot with antlers too though. I wonder if the mature bucks drop sooner than the young bucks?

Typically mature bucks keep them longer if they are healthy.

Virtually all areas of the state are dropping early because for whatever reason the rut was early by some weeks.

Our lease is off Hoover Rd. and the bucks still have antlers. I was up there Saturday doing some work. All the bucks I saw still had their head gear. Should be anytime now.

Hoover road, as in Hoover Divide Road, CR 406? How far south of IH10 are you?

20 miles south of Ozona and almost every buck I saw still had antlers. I found one new shed and seen one buck with only one side. They are just now beginning to shed.

we must be not too far apart. I have a place between Pandale Road and Hoover Divide off Scott Canyon Road (CR409). I'll be heading there tomorrow to fill/check feeders and hopefully can do a little shed hunting. just doing a day trip, leaving about 7:00 am, swing thru Lampasas to grab corn, then on to the ranch. about 5.5 hours drive one way. once I'm done with feeders, will evaluate how much time I have since it will be another 5.5 hours drive back home. gonna be a long day.

PMK Yes sir. Hover Divide Road. CR 406. Some of the other hunters are currently up there now. Im pretty sure the bucks have started to drop by now. I'm from Elgin Texas and it takes me about 5 to 5.5hrs also to get the lease. You must go up HWY29. I take HWY29 all the way to Menard then 190 to Eldorado then down 277 to Ozona. I love the drive out there that way then going up I-10. I have done many day trips. It sure does make for a long day.

We are at the corner of 406 and Hwy 290. Both sides of 406 till the cattle guard and both sides 290.

Most of our deer have shed and it looks like most of them shed on or near the 15th. Looking at the cameras. We straddle Reagan and Crockett county. Found this one a couple days ago.
