I lucked out and hit those conditions a couple different days this season. Broke out "my wife's" o/u ruger 28 and killed a couple birds. Always bring it along just in case. I have seen very little of the running birds on my place this season. No livestock, pretty good cover. But I haven't been there for a couple of weeks. It may have been hunted more. I'm headed back Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Hopefully the rain Monday will be light

I took a friend of mine out there this year that was an excellent shot with an over and under 28 gauge.
After 1 day in Texas, he was asking could he borrow my 20 gauge.
I told him the birds in West Texas are wild. Not pen raised birds.
I sold him one for a high price.

Twenty gauge, improved cylinder. 7.5 shot heavy field load. ...on wild ones. 28 gauge, IC over Mod. same load, for dog work on released birds.

Bill do you shoot open in both barrels Really good shooters only load one barrel, the other barrel is just there for balance. I, on the other hand, like to use IC/IC or Mod/IC. Cass

Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

pen raised birds get cylinder and 7.5 shot Wild birds get IC and 6 shot. I've lost so many wild birds to 7.5 shot. I don't see how some people get by with 8shot

'58 Belgium A5 light 12, chopped barrel. Federal high brass 7.5's I started shooting this year. They spin pheasants even with the chopped barrel and knock the stink out of quail. Have 4 cases in the garage now and i hope i shoot them all!

open and skeet 20 gauge 8 This. And I'm looking to go to 28 soon. I won't hunt with anyone that uses anything larger than a 20 gauge to hunt quail.
Yeah, don't listen to me. I'm just an idiot.
Lol. Duckbill that was funny! The dude up top has already taken lots of bone before this deer, both mule and whitetail.
