Located in East Texas-I tried doing a gravity protein feeder in a pen for a year, couldn’t get the deer to take it, even mixed it 50/50 with corn and the raccoons and squirrels would pull out the protein to get to the corn and still no deer would touch anything- even put a spin feeder with corn in the pen and couldn’t get the deer to jump in, and yes it was plenty big did an over kill in size to be safe-so gave up on protein feeding

Really want to do a food plot but while talking to the feed store about getting my soil test done the guy said that if we have a bad hog problem it’s pointless-we do have a bad hog problem-the pipeline where I’m planning on doing the food plot looks like I have tilled it due to the amount of hog rooting, no joke

So is it worth doing a food plot with this much of a hog problem?

Doubtful, they'll probably have 80% of your seed out of the ground before it sprouts. Build a corral trap and get rid of the hog issue.

Some yes, some no.

My advice is to kick azz on trapping and killing hogs all spring/summer and possibly try a fall food plot. Do a corn and soybean mix in your feeder until you can get the hog problem under control
