Oh wow, that's not good, Don. Our Angoras started about 10 days ago, we've got about 50 on the ground. Lost 3 so far (1 DOA, 2 others).

The kids are "cute". Wish you the best of luck with the remaining kids!

They have any meds in the feed Don? I traced a few still borns the first year I had mine to a certain wormer I had used... have to rotate them wisely now

I have not wormed them since Sept. That is when the breeding season started. My biggest problem is some are born too soon. I have had a few over the years that were way premature. This year they seem to be about a month or so too early. I have sent them off to Tex. A&M and everything else to try to figure it out. No answers yet. At least for me Ibex are just hard to raise. And it seems as though the more Nubian they get the harder it gets.

I wonder if its climate... do you time their breeding with Ai? Or just have a billy? Strange they would get common to early birth... boer goats are hard enough I couldn't imagine ibex

I don't worm anything. Not my bison, not my antelope, not anything. I concur with the vets that say worming builds dependency. I also don't keep animals too crowded (and they get most of their nutrition by grazing) so that may be how I get by with that.

I guess i'm glad I didn't ever get into the goat business. Sounds like I'd be a bust at that.

Hate to hear about the dog. Some losses you can't prevent, like the still borns. Hate you lost one like that. That really hurts, twice.

I have to rotate between 3 wormers every 2-3 rounds... and worm/trim hooves every three weeks... theres a nice balance between everything.... to much of the same wormer will build up dependency.... to much rotation creates a gut trying to keep up with to much difference... I keep my billy in for 45 days but he dosnt have to chase them.. they have just under 10acres between 13does but its still enough to graze since its solid yaupon/oak and some pasture.. always have hay and feed every day... its more controlled though... I couldn't imagine doing it in more of a spread out set up

Dang Don... I just got through messaging you. Last year I had a HORRIBLE year...lost approx 40% of all my kids. This year I've got 19 alive and 2 dead. The weather has been VERY mild up here and I am sure that has something to do with it. Bottle raising all these knuckleheads is going to be the end of me

So far as of yesterday. 6 alive and 4 dead. I am bottling 2 for my Son which will probably be for sale in a week or so after I make sure they will be alright.

I'd say fairly decomposed by now.
