I want to get into long range and have been looking all over the forum and internet on different scopes until my head hurts. I know I want MIL/MIL and FFP. Likes/Dislikes from those that have used this one?

Never handled it but I'm pretty sure that that's the same optic the Army puts on its Knight's Armament M110 sniper system.

If you have researched anything in the last 10 years how did you run across that one

I have seen others comment that Vortex PST optics are not clear on the higher zooms.
I have Burris scopes (lower end) and like them. I looked at the XTR, they seem to be good and are the same price as the Leupold mark 4.

Yeah, the Army uses the best of the best. Same organization that used MOA turrets, and Mil dot reticles, well after the shooting community had long called that combo pure stupidity.

I had a MK4 that was SFP Mil reticle and MOA adjustments. Glass was good and it was a good scope except for the screwy adjustments and reticle. I replaced it with a Burris XTRII 4-20x and have been very happy with it for the same price range.

Had a Leupold rep try to sell me one at about 50% off retail that was one he used in scope mounting training for retail stores. I politely said nope, and told him if it was mil/mil or moa/moa I would buy it but since it wasn't then the answer was no.

I was young and uninformed on the subject when I made that purchase needless to say lol.

I have a Bushnell 6500 2.5-15 that is mixed up aka split personality scope that I got for a very good price. I just ignore the mil reticle and use it like it is just a duplex. Works ok for that. The scope is clear and the turrets tack true, so I am ok with that for the rare occasion that function gets used

All depends on your budget. I would second the recommendation fir the Burris XTR II. A great scope for the price point. up

For just long range, you'll probably be shooting at max magnification so FFP not really a must (2FP reticles usually correct at max magnification)...this will save you a couple hundred on a purchase if that is a concern.

Thank you for the input. Ended up going with this Bushnell. Have to wait for it, but a good price.
