I was reading CCBIRDOG's thread about all of the quail they killed last weekend and it reminded me of a hunt I was on with a bunch of customers in the 90's.
We spent all day out hunting and had over 100 blues when we got back into ODESSA. Somehow we wound up in a strip club on the way home. As the night wore on we got to talking about all of the quail we had to clean after taking care of dogs and what not at that late hour.
Someone got to talking with one of the dancers and we wound up bartering quail for lap dances.
It added a great story to end the day.
Was this legal (bartering gamebirds) or just an outlaws way of having a great time?

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

I do believe this is how the Northern term dickering came about.

Ima thinking that was illegal but prolly was fun.I'd thought that value of the quail would be more though.

How many quail did it take for one lap dance?

Good point. Or, maybe I should have asked how many lap dances per quail? grin

I can't remember exactly. I believe that was negotiated on a per dance basis. I do know more than one stripper was trading dances for birds.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Scalebuster, did you fill out a wildlife transfer form? If so, then it sounds all good.

I just want to know how the conversation came up and the girls were interested in the quail?

Girls probably wanted to know why they were covered in blood, mud, guts and feathers

I have no idea how that conversation got started. It's amazing what comes to mind after you've been drinking beer all afternoon and sit down to a whiskey treat in a dark club with naked women trying to get into your wallet every direction you turn. Sometimes you have to improvise. This was back when it was still fun to be a salesman in the oilfield.

If it was illegal, sounds like it was probably worth the risk...depending on the talent level Odessa had to offer at the time confused2
