Wanted to give a shoutout to the Outpost here in Little Elm. They did a really nice job on my horn mount and I would highly recommend them. At first I was feeling like I might have let this buck go another year, but they aged him at around 5.5 years, and said he was on the decline because his G2's are bigger than the G1's. Didn't have the bottom jaw so it was a guess. Sure makes me feel good knowing I shot a mature buck, even if he isn't a 150 class or whatever, at the end of the day I really don't care what they score as long as they are mature.

Dang nice deer.

That buck looks old enough, and who can say if he was on the decline or not, but I don't think tine length indicates that. Genetics and maybe nutrition determine that. I've seen plenty of young, growing bucks with larger G3's than G2's, which I assume is what you meant. G1's are brow times and typically shorter. That's not to take anything away from your deer or suggest he isn't mature. Just pointing out that I think the info given to you was inaccurate. Again, that's a nice buck.
