Did some shooting this weekend dialing in two scopes. One was mil other was moa. First time I've used either so it was a learning curve to say the least. Think I have the mil figured out better than the moa but could use some outside perspective to make sure what I did was right.

Open up a ballistic calculator app. Have Inch, MOA and Mill checked.
Reference your turret click measurements. Easiest way for me.

I'm not clear on the question, but Mil and MOA are both angular units of measurement. Since you have two scopes, one with each adjustment value, you need to learn both as separate entities, and not try to carry over adjustment values between the two. The adjustments are exponential at closer and further ranges. I'll use 100 yds as a baseline. It breaks down like this...
1 mil = 3.6" @ 100 yds 1/10 mil (standard adjustment value) = 0.36" @ 100 7.2" @ 200 yds 0.72" @ 200 10.8"@300 1.08" @ 300 36" @ 1000yds 3.6" @ 1000
1 MOA = 1.047" @ 100 1/4 MOA (standard adjustment) = 0.262" @ 100 2.094" @ 200 0.524" @ 200 3.141" @ 300 0.786" @ 300
It looks more complicated than it is, but hopefully it gives you a rough idea. Most people using MOA scopes will just round numbers. 1 MOA = 1" @ 100 yds, 1/4 MOA (one click) = 1/4" @ 100 yds, etc. Double it @ 200, triple it @ 300, divide by 2 @ 50 yds. Clear as mud?

Well between the 3 of us I think I was the only one with an idea. Still confusing but I think the mil is the way I'd rather go. Seems the moa wasn't as easy to dial in so may just need to back up and get another scope for it. Huge learning curve still. Now assuming I get it dialed in at say 100 yards and I figure drop o should be able to adjust on the fly and be dead on at whatever distance?

Yes, assuming your scope tracks true. Meaning that it moves the correct distance you tell it to every time. That will take care of elevation, wind is on you.

Once you figure out how to use both, it's not hard at all. Just read up on mils and moa, and how to dial and create trajectory charts for both. There's plenty of info on the internet to understand either. And yes, mils is easier to grasp in the beginning. MOA confuses shooters because they want to think in inches while trying to understand moa at the same time, and it doesn't work like that.

Could just come out with me for a day, and you will have zero question on how the scope works.
