How do you guys/gals maintain your quality optics as far as lens cleaning.
currently, I blow off with canned air, use a "Len's Pen" brush, then use the chamois end moving it in circles from the center outward.
I'm scared to death to hit my glass with any "liquid"
how about ya'll???

Heard of that compressed air being so cold it has cracked glass before, so I use my lungs.
Then a lens pen brush, then Zeiss leans cleaning wipes, then the smudge remover on the lens pen.

I've never really cleaned mine. Are you supposed to? If I see dust or anything I just blow it off. My Trijicon came with a nifty pen that I've never tried.

Probably alcohol. The Zeiss lens pads smell like alcohol.

Another for the Zeiss lens wipes. Work great on glasses, scopes, and binoculars as well as still- and videocamera lens.

I'm scared to death to hit my glass with any "liquid" AHHHH!!! Buzz, no canned air!! I have seen a shooter take a can of compressed air to blow off the dust on a high end Schmidt and Bender, and shatter the front lens! I mean, the entire front lens went to a full glass spider web. The outside temp was in the 90's, and the air coming out of the can is easily below freezing. So, I would not recommend compressed air from a can to blow of the lens. A normal shop air compressor with room temp air should be ok, I would think. Use the brush on the end of the lens pen, and then the applicator end in small circles. This is how I clean all my lens.

Swarovski recommends a bath in water to remove the dust and grit first. Works well for our dry, dusty climate, followed by the zeiss lens wipes.

If its cold or cool i use my breath to blow dust away, then my breath to steam it up, then wipe with a high quality micro fiber cloth...
When its to warm, windex and micro fiber cloth
when in the field dusty days,,, blow out what i can and continue on....
Never used a pen so that might replace my ways if i ever get to try one ?

Last year at the Rifle Hunters Challenge (during the rain) I pulled out my handkerchief to wipe off my lenses and several other asked can I use that when your done. Of course this was a hunters challenge and their was no expensive equipment there. So I can't use my t shirt any more. No, the dust might scratch the glass. STOP IT!!! Picky Picky Picky
