This is the first shed I've ever found on our lease and I've been hunting here for 20 years. Do y'all think animals pick them up and drag them off? We have the biggest rat nest you have ever seen all over the ranch along with badgers and porcupines. A few other guys have found some and now I'm hoping to find more.

I've heard Racoons eat them. I know one thing, when my dog gets ahold of one he chews on it like it's crack cocaine

All kinds of critters will eat them since they are calcium!

Anything that is carnivore will eat them. As much as dogs love them I suspect coyotes pick them up as well.

They sell for big money in pet stores.

Cool find. Have fun looking. I'm hoping I'll stumble across some suburbia monster sheds soon.

Good find.

To find more, train your eyes for it. It's hard to explain, but when it happens, your success rate will skyrocket. Don't look for antlers. Look for tines sticking up. Take your shed, stick it in the grass, and scan the area it's in. Don't look directly at it. Just scan til it sticks out in your peripheral. This will give you an idea. When you find on while actually looking for them, it will click.

Also, timing is crucial. Now through March is ideal. You want to beat the varmints and the grass. Once the grass gets up, you're done.

Came to say this. Nearly everything out there will eat or chew on them. Our cows love em.

And why wouldn't you give that to your dog unless you are going to Gnaw on it yourself confused2 laugh

Lots of animals munch on them both Herbivore and Carnivore, squirrels seem to target them the most rifle

Being the first one I wanted to hang on to it! I guess it's all about timing and I'm usually fishing while every animal out there is getting them. I've heard that the big rats drag them off. Last year I had a rat take my keys.

I find on average 1 a year on my property. Sometimes they are a year old and show marks where they have been chewed on

I have not looked beyond my feeders, but would have to imagine quite a few sheds could be found after discovering two inside my 10 panel feeder pen.

If the dog is showing interest in it, capitalize on that and make yourself a shed hunting dog.

Most likely, but you might be surprised where antlers may congregate. I searched a 300 acre property, and I searched it good. I found about 25 sheds. All but two were found within a patch of about 3 acres.

We would find them in the cedars around the wheat field.
