This past weekend we were cleaning my in-laws closet out and we found 2 rifles that we believe are service rifles from WW2. One is a US Remington Model 1903 with a serial number over 3,000,000 which designates it as being manufactured some where between 1941-1943.

The other rifle didn't have many markings but had K29 engraved on the barrel just a head of the bolt. From looking it up it appears this is a Polish service rifle? or manufactured by a Polish company with the rifle designation being Karabinek wz. 1929.

We don't really know how they were acquired or anything else about as granddad as since passed away.

Is there anyone in/near Fort Worth that would be able to give us more information/value on these 2 rifles. From what we can tell they are both 100% original. Or are there any recommendations of gun dealers in the area who are honest the forum could recommend.

It seems there is great variation in their value depending on condition and if it has all the original matching parts. Just want to figure out what we have before we decide to do anything with them.

I'd be very interested in the wz.29. It is a service rifle from WW2. I have a small Polish collection.

I would be interested in the 1903 springfield if you decide to sell.

Keep them unless you really need the money.

the polish rifle is a mauser 98 variant of some sort. Is there any kind of crest or engraving at the top of the receiver before the hand guard starts?

Thanks for the responses. A couple of members helped put us in touch with a knowledgeable gunsmith and both guns have been traded in for a 30/06.

Not full $1600. The Polish rifle had a large crack in the stock so unfortunately it was almost worthless or would need some major work. But my father-in-law picked up a Sauer 101
