Hadn't seen a hog for several weeks, but while I was filling a deer feeder, I decided to drop a few hands full of corn in my little "cow panel/hose clamp" trap. This morning I found that I had a visitor. A 22 mag to the ear hole sent him to hog heaven and ended his breeding career before it got started very well.

I've already got a freezer full of hog, 2hellandback, so I took this one to the bone yard.

Wild hog tastes just like any other hog. Just wash them good before you put a knife to skin.

They taste great! You do have to take a bit more care in the cleaning and butchering process, since they're not exactly raised in the most carefully monitored environment. My family and I have been eating them for years and are unable to tell any difference between the wild hogs and the ones we used to buy wrapped in plastic at the HEB. I, personally, don't butcher the large and sometimes very smelly boars and really like the little fellers that I can load into the truck with one hand! They're so tender and so sweet I save them for special occasions, like family reunions.
