Record rack , Rack plus , AntlerMax w/watershed

Looking at starting to feed protein and was curious if any of you have used either and how it did?

Record rack sportsman 20% or professional 16% or 20% ?
ADM rack plus has several formulations, I assume you’re asking about the 18-4 or ?
If it were my choice out of those 3, I'd go with Antler Max 20%.

I didn't realize until after I posted that but there was actually different ones with record rack .
I called a few of my local feed stores and two of them named those three as that is what they carried .
Another one said he carried all three however he recommended feeding go pellets as it was still 20% however it was a lot cheaper . I've never even heard of record rack however I have heard of antlermax!
I just called back and he said it's the professional 20% .

I'm guessing antler max has better results.

Results take years of free choice year around feeding to measure.
The first couple years will help the fawn crop & doe mostly, by the 3rd year you'll probably notice some increase in antler.
The baby bucks that started life nursing from does that eat it & as they grow older eat it themselves will show the biggest gains.

I use antler max mostly because it is a solid consistent product, easy & convenient for me to get, the deer eat it well & the water shed does seem to help with pellet swelling due to high humidity. I aint saying its the best protein in the whole wide world.

IMO, both Gorman/Red chain 20% and Lyssy & Eckel 20% are very good products, they're what I would feed if they were available closer to where I need it or bought in large enough quantity to make sense hauling it.

I use antlermax because its what my local feedstore uses... wouldn't make any sense for me to drive to any town nearby to get it... money and time wise

This is pretty true but I have found using Rice Bran will help the deer eat what you give them. I had a hard time initially a few years ago trying to get the deer to eat any protein. I was told by a biologist about the rice bran. Fill your protein feeder and put a couple handful of rice bran in each spigot....Well for me that first time I did it I had bucks all over it the first night. Once they get use to the protein you really don't need the rice bran again until you refill. Don't put the rice bran inside the feeder....it will cake up. Been there done that.
I typically use Record Rack....not the Golden Nuggets but the 20%.

How would you say you like your record rack 20%? How many years have you used it and have you seen good results ?

The only results imo are if they are eating it.... there no true +s or -s big enough to make a difference in purchase

Protein is one of four steps to making a big deer... it keeps them feed.. IF you feed enough... so food.... water....cover.... and AGE... imo if they had sufficient food source other than protein but they could get just as easy and abundant you would see close to the same results... BUT theres not many places like that.. protein isn't suddenly gona make their horns burst up huge on its own.. but it will keep them fed with little effort means less stress... and its a good first step..

I'll add a #5.

Genetics.

On our place in Blanco you could feed 10 tons per month for a decade and it would still be very rare event to see a big or wide buck.
Down the road a piece same county different story.

StephensCnty308 - If your place is in Stephens County, you are pretty close to Gorman Milling. I'd recommend checking out the Red Chain protein pellets. They make a 17% and a 20%. Their mineral and vitamin formula is pretty solid. We use the 17% primarily unless conditions are really dry. They have a dealer in Breckenridge, but if you buy enough, they can deliver in bags or bulk directly to your property. They are cheaper than the Antlermax's & Record Rack's of the world because they don't have a big advertising overhead.

If you're speaking of Four H in Breckenridge they did not have the Red Chain protein when I went by there early Jan. They were stocking the ADM protein at that time and carried other items from Gorman Milling. I did get the Red Chain 17% at EZ Feed in Albany around the end of Jan.

I've been using it for the past 5 years. Over the last two years I have noticed a significant difference. I feed from April through September. Unfortunately I only have about 200 acres low fence and it makes it somewhat difficult to manage with other properties around that do not subscribe to the same management philosophy as me. But I do have hundreds of pictures to testify the results.

Here is a link I posted last summer on a few of the deer.

This. It's $8 per bag and the deer won't leave it alone. I have a hard time spending $18 per bag on something the deer eat that quickly.

Is it duck season yet?
