I ran across some knives by Hogdog Woodcrafts out of Terrell but can't find out much on them. Looks like they may have crafted the wood handle portions and bought the blades, but not sure? Just wondering if anyone had any experience with these at all? Thanks.

Not a maker I'm familiar with. Post a pic, we can spot a blank, likely.

Sure looks like they are using purchased blades from the pics on that page.

Yeah, blanks. He does say so, however, and gives credit to Green River/Russell and Buck. He doesn't represent that he made them from scratch.

Nothing wrong with that as long as he is honest about his process.

Yes - not being accusatory at all - just wondering if the knives were any good.

It depends on what you mean by "good." They are as good as the blanks they're made from. Typical blanks are ground well enough to cut well. Typically they're a bit softer than you might get in a custom, I'd guess 57-59 instead of 59-60. Typically they're not one of the more well known steels. The questionable steel and lower hardness means typically less edge retention, but easier sharpening. Will they work? Absolutely. Are they better than a factory knife? No, because they're made in a factory. I don't know the maker, don't want to be too critical of another man's work, but his fit and finish is not too impressive.
