I introduced my girlfriend to deer hunting this past deer season and she's hooked! She dropped her first deer dead in his tracks. When Valentines plans came up, she chose to spend time doing what I (and she) love. Spend time outdoors together. We still have a few feeders running on the family place. I knew the particular feeder would go off at 4:45pm. She and I approached the area on foot. The old deer stand near by has seen better days. It has a strong lean and it felt like 1 wire to a t-post was holding down the elevated stand. I crawled into the stand but wasn't sure she and I should both be in the stand considering the wind Sunday afternoon. We sat down by a tree instead. Feeder went off at 4:45, just on time. Pigs rolled in 2 minutes later. The elevation change from sitting on the ground was unfavorable. She couldn't see enough of the pigs to get a shot. I wasn't much better but took a shot anyway. One pig staggered sideways and disappeared. Couldn't find any blood so we went on with our afternoon of leisure. We walked down a hill and grabbed some chairs to go sit on a vantage point to watch an oat field. She insisted on carrying both chairs since I had the gun. The temperature was dropping fast and the wind was brisk. At 6pm, we returned to the truck to ease around looking for pigs. We saw 6 does and a good buck but no pigs at first. We were heading back in above the same oat field when I saw the unmistakable sight. 20-30 pigs in the oats. I killed the truck and she was already out the door with AR in hand. We walked to within 100 yards and I gave her the go ahead. She tried to steady free handed and squeezed a shot. She shot high and the pigs were now running at us. I took the AR and started blasting. One went down and others were still coming at us. The largest, a boar, nearly came between us and the truck. It was a wild few moments. When it was all over, she was shaking and legs trembling. She said it was a rush like no other! She's still excited about it today but upset she didn't kill a hog. I promised her there will be many more opportunities. I believe I'm a lucky man to have a fine young lady that has a passion for my passion...hunting and time spent outdoors!

Great pictures. I'll channel a Jewish mom here and ask - when are you going to pop the question??? 'Burnin' daylight.

Looks like he has taken the bait now is the time to set the hook.
Tigger If it isn't white it is not a birddog.

Looks like he has taken the bait now is the time to set the hook. That's exactly what I was thinking.
