I have been doing research and there is a WMA 15 minutes down the road from where I live.
Does any one know if setting a corral trap on public land is legal? At our local WMA you can bait except during deer season. I Havent seen any regulations in the Outdoor Annual that says no trapping on WMAs but I wanted to ask around before I did anything!
Also what do yall think about corral traps? this will be my first time using this style of trapping! Just using cattle pannels Tposts and a trip wire to close the gate.
Thanks!!

There is a phone number for the WMA in the book. Call them to verify but I can tell you the answer will be no.

Federal WMA has given permits for setting hog traps in the RGV WMA areas, but won't issue any night permits. But farmers have been having problems with hogs and they are within the WMA and shooting is not allowed, but trapping has been with a permit.

Not sure what the RGV stands for, on W side of parking at Hoard Rd, at W end close ta boundry, theis what looked like a heart shaped hog trap, two openings, no doors, it could be land owners & after the hog hunts they are allowed ta trap... see the reason for no night hunts, like my caveman huntsolo hunts, like with hunting with my AR, my shots were kept close range, & only 3-5 rounds, it is open ta public... Their might also give limited permit hunts for NV or Thermal hunt... Don't hurt ta ask, just like on privite land, all they can do is say: no...

Not sure of all the different WMA's & talking with other hunters found their was public land not listed in booklet... Figured their would be a rush of hunters at OSBWMA when they opened up East side for ATV's, it beats back packing something out... Ya cant beat the price of the, as pappy says: $48.00 food stamp, even the low class hunters can afford it ... Those bigger size cyrcal traps that have an outer funnel to a spring gate can catch more hogs than hunter can take down at one sitting... shooting begins, the hogs take off running, 99% of time... did drop big hog, they all scattered inta the switch-cain... tried ta drag hog aways, too heavy so gutted, & they came back ta clearing, picked smaller one, shot, it dropped, at sound of gun fire, they all took few quick steps went back ta eating, had ta shew em away... was right at dark-thirty... Ya with limited hunting preasure, WMA can be some of the best hunting...
