I put the call and decoy to wherever I want my shot to be.

What would be a good beginner call and decoy?

Most of my situations are longer range, so I usually put the call & decoy at 50 yds or so. Just depends upon the set-up.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

So do they typically come right to the decoy or do you try and stop them farther out to get the shot? I'm talking about coyotes.

Sometimes they come running in to the decoy and other times they are cautious. You can try to stop them if they are coming in hard, but they might not stop.

Make sure it is far enouh out you can shoot. Too close you better have a shotgun or low power scope. I have had them come in right next to me like a few yards. They go right to the deke and call wherever it is. I like 50 to 60 yards.

The decoy is more to serve as a distraction to them. Its the focal point, rather than any movement that you might make as you take the shot.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I have another question. Do you put the electronic call by the decoy or does that sit next to you?

Put the e-caller upwind of your position - I always put decoy w/the caller.

Decoy with the caller. If you have them separate, that would probably make them wary with the movement at X and the noise coming from Y.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

50-80 yards and I put the decoy wiggler with the caller, but they don't always bring in what is expected...
