Hunting can be good. We see lots of deer on our place, but the quality bucks were few and far between this year. I'm not sure why as we manage well and are selective in our bucks. As is the case in any area, management is key to the quality of deer hunting. If you are asking if there are a lot of deer in the area, the answer is YES, but who knows how the hunting is on this piece of property. It all depends on the hunting and management practices of the other lease members.

I hunted Palo Pinto for a long time. There are a lot of deer out that way, but big bucks were hard to come by. I think we had a problem with poachers out there though. Too many oil well guys driving in and out. We would see a few really nice young bucks and then they would all just be gone. Our landowners kids and their friends also liked to spend quite a bit of time driving around out there so I'm not sure. It was a nice lease with a nice cabin we built on it though. Good times out there and I'd do it again.

FWIW I did notice there seemed to be some bigger bucks closer to the Brazos river. If I were you I'd give the lease a shot. It was a good area in general.

If it is a lease, ask for the last hunters phone numbers and why they left.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

I hunted in Palo Pinto for 20 years. This is exactly what I observed, nice young deer but the oil guys would ride around out there and...... I hunted on a lease right on the side of the road on Hwy 180, just up the hill from the store in the little town. A lot of memories there.

The darn landowner decided to sell the land to an oil guy. He bought over 30,000 acres in Palo Pinto and didn't allow hunting on any of it. Made me sick.

I shot this buck in Palo Pinto Cty. Nov. 2016, 136 4/8" green. I saw many small bucks this season that need another two to three years. Turkey were everywhere. Good luck with your new lease, how many acres? How many members?

I used to hunt a few miles west of Graford just before the 254/16 split. Deer numbers were pretty good, but as others have said the really big bucks were tough to find. I killed a couple of decent bucks on that place but nothing spectacular. A guy I hunted with killed a very nice 13 point. I really liked the place other than all of the cedars. There used to be a little diner in Graford on 254 just east of 337 that had really good food.

It's a little over 1000 acres with 6 hunters.
