anybody have a feeder remote that they would recommend? i want to rehab the old busted feeder on the land I have access too. Trying to train the pigs to be more diurnal. I figured I'd work in a piece of tin near the legs of the feeder so it makes a louder noise when the corn is spread so they'll be more likely to hear it at a distance and learn to come running when i show up at daylight hours. Am I too far gone in lala land or is there a slim chance I could be on to something?

My experience has been, nothing will consistently bring them out during daylight hours if they have been hunted much.

these pigs have not been hunted at all from my understanding. at least not on this property. the neighbors may have taken a few cracks at them at some point, i dont know.

I use "the remote" and it works pretty well. As for adding things for sound, in the middle of nowhere feeders can be heard from 500+ yards away by me on a calm morning. Gotta think the deer/hogs can hear them from farther away. Throw corn and if they are around they will come. Give them more to eat and they will be there more often.

lots of thick trees and vegetation and the feeder is in one clearing probably 75 ft from a creek so I figured the motor sound would be muffled more than 60 yards away. I've never used a feeder before so I didn't realize they were that loud.

No two areas are the same but animals have a particular way of finding feeders one way or another. I just wouldn't worry about that part of it.

Oh I know they'll find it. I know they travel right by it regularly from cam footage. Im talking about them getting used to the sound so when I show up in the say and hit the remote they mosey on over thinking its.a bonus check day. Lol

It has been hit or miss with me using the timer to feed at off times. Sometimes something comes running in, other times they hit the feeder at their usual time. Still a nice option to have either way.

I use the remote and it brings deer in when they walk the fence line in the morning when heading back to their bedding areas. I put the round Eliminator spin plate on my feeder so I wouldn't have to worry about the tree rats emptying my hopper on me. But once I tried it with the varmint cage still attached to the feeder, I decided to keep the cage on the feeder because I got that extra noise from the corn hitting the wire cage when it was swinging out the corn. I was able to get out last year and get some hogs to come in by using the remote and having that extra sound when I activated the feeder. My blind is 40 yards back from my feeder (crossbow range) and I don't have any problems with the remote not working at that distance. The deer and hogs come in between my feeder and blind most of the time or from behind my blind and walk up to the feeder. I will be picking up another one to attach to my other feeder for next season. I wish I just bought the two pack because I could have saved some money. I got mine from Texas Direct Hunting Supply. Also the battery for the remote is not a common battery so buy some spare batteries at the shop you buy it from. If you get something tasty enough, you can bring the hogs in to your feeder in the daytime. I had to switch to flavored corn to get them to come around during daylight. I started spooking a bunch during my walk to my blind for an afternoon deer hunt last season. The year before that, I would only get them in during night time. I tried all the scent bombs, attractants and even my buddies calling system and they wouldn't come in. Switched to scented corn and now I have to keep my eye out for hogs now while walking to my blind. They are also bedding down closer to my blind now lol. I started using Waller Rice Drier's Apple scented corn and their roasted soybean mix. They also have persimmon and acorn scented corn and it only costs 50 cents more per bag so I drive out to Waller Texas and pick it up directly from them. A lot of feed stores sell their stuff and you can call them and they will tell you which place has it near you and when another shipment will be going out if they are sold out. Their scented corn is like crack for deer and hogs. I have had good results with The-Remote feeder remote. Definitely worth the money.

I bought and installed one for a customer a couple years ago at Bass Pro shop, Moultrie Feeder Activator Remote Control. My customer had his feeder in his back yard and wanted to set it off from the house other than at normal feeding times. He told me that while it worked it also had a mind of it;s own and would go off at times when the timer was not set for and when the button wasn't pushed, so I am not impressed.

If you think you may hunt them at night I have a few All Seasons Inhawgnito lights that hookup to your feeder battery/timer. It comes with a remote that can operate the feeder and light. It works really well if you physically see the pigs close or know they just walked away...you get setup and hit it again and they come running. Thomas

Im planning on putting a couple solar motion lights near the feeder. Gonna use a green film over the lights. Probably wont get to do much night hunting til summer but that gives plenty of time for them to acclimate to them.

The "remote" has worked well for me. I've had it for two years with no problems. I use it when deer/ pigs check out the feeder before it goes off or after all the corn is eaten to call them back.

Yeah the stuff has worked so well that my buddy is having problems with the hogs on the property now lol. Since they are coming out during daylight for the flavored corn it seemed to pull in a lot of hogs from other surrounding properties and then they are coming down near his house once they finish eating all the stuff around the feeder and looking for more food lol. They ate his entire garden and got in to some feed. To help start getting them to come in during the daytime, try dumping something down on a big pile of regular corn and then spread out 1/2 a bag of the apple scented corn around the feeder and that should start getting them to come in during daylight. I used a jug of that Evolved Habitat liquid Roasted Corn Freaks and some molasses. I also smeared some molasses and the roasted stuff on some scent wicks and hung them in the trees to get the scent to carry. Seemed to help for my area since the field that butts up against my buddies property is 5ft higher than my buddies land.
