I am currently reading the book 'The Dual Purpose Labrador' by Mary Roslin-Williams. In the book she talked about how in her mind the Labrador Retriever was a more 'ancient' breed than some of the other sporting dogs and mentioned this Portuguese dog Castro Laboreiro could have had a heavy influence the gene pool. Having never heard of this breed I started to research it a bit more for the sake of curiosity and came across the below article. Anyone here ever heard of the breed and its connection to the modern day lab? Labrador Ancestry
