Has anyone hunted the Love Valley WMA just the other side of the red river? The land I have access to is limited. I'm allowed to take hogs and cull any drop tine deer. That's it, as the landowner just loves her wildlife oh so much, and enjoys watching them on her many game cameras. Which is totally cool as it IS her land. However, that WMA is 15 minutes closer, (20 without traffic) and has small game and varmints available. The $142 yearly non resident hunting license isn't a big deal. Google hasnt returned to many hits on it on forums, but I did find one thread (a few years old) where a gentleman had posted that he hunts it with some regularity and has never seen anyone else out there outside of deer season. Any info?

I hunt Oklahoma although east of where you are talking about (Bryan Co.); There are lots of quality deer in the area and you would be surprised at some of the monsters that come out of Oklahoma's draw hunts every year especially during the muzzle loader season.

FYI - If your going to be deer/turkey hunting you will have to buy the out of state tags if your a Texas resident; they can get pretty expensive however given the alternative of lease payments and travel they can be well worth it, especially if you bow hunt.

Also- If you buy a out of state hunting license you are able to enter the Oklahoma draw hunts for $5.00 and that can give you access to drawings for deer, turkey, pronghorn and Elk hunts.

Never hunted the WMA, too many hunters. I lived about 20 miles NW of the WMA. Lot of quality animals in the entire Red River valley area.

As you know OKs gun deer season is short. It gets crowded there. I have made the mistake of going up to hunt small game and forgetting deer season had opened. All my spots had trucks parked at them. I would not leave a vehicle unattended on the part close to 35. Lots of riff raff driving around that are not hunters. If you bowhunt and avoid the major opening weekends it would be worth it. Gun season, I would keep driving unless the only other option was to stay home. Small game is hit hard by locals and river flood.

She looks at drop tines as a mutation. Lol I can't kill her beautiful "pet" deer but I can take all the "mutants" and hogs I want. I also just got the green light for dove season so I'm prepping some sunflower plots.
