Want to try and kill a couple hogs with my crossbow but don't want to use the expensive rage expandable's so what fixed blade broad heads have you had good success with on hogs? Doesn't have to be top of the line stuff just something i can sling at a pig if he dies within 50 yds great if he dies a mile away great too.

I have used the inexpensive Allen Grizzlys with great success. They are a one and done broadhead, but I've found them fairly accurate and deadly.

I have not used a crossbow, but I would assume they would be equivalent to the compound bow variety. Muzzy is pretty cheap and does the job.

^^^^^Muzzy Broadheads^^^^^ Those broadheads will destroy bone. Haven't taken a hog with one but have taken deer in the past and it definitely penetrates nicely.

125 grain Muzzy Phantoms!! That's what I use on my crossbow for pigs and deer. Accurate and deadly, great penetration. Farthest I've ever had a pig run was 50 yrds.

I used 100gr slick trick magnums this year and took out 3 during bow season. 2 of them went about 40 yards and the boar I shot went about 5 yards. Nice thing is you can disassemble and sharpen them to use again on hogs.

I use 125gr G5 Montec for about everything I shoot with the crossbow. Easy to sharpen with no assembly requited. Have killed multiple hogs with one broadhead that way.

Slick tricks or Muzzy's. I've taken hogs with both. 100 or 125 grain should work. They will run, but not far (1-40 yards). Use a fixed broad head hogs.

God bless John Wayne!

I have had good luck with the G5 T3's. Everything I have stuck with them has gone down quickly.

Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

On my Parker crossbow, I use recycled G5 Montecs. If the broadhead is still in good shape, I sharpen them up a bit after killing a deer, make a small etch mark on the bottom to indicate it is now a hog broadhead, and they work just fine on hogs.
On my Mathews crossbow, I'm a little more limited as to what I can use, due to the narrow rail on it. My G5 Montecs won't fit on it (too wide), so I use recycled Trophy Taker Shuttle T-Locks (I use the same procedure as above). They hold up very well, and I have had no problems taking hogs with these either.
I like expandables myself, but am not a big Rage fan. However, a third option you can try is to get a set of NAP Spitfire expandables, buy the replacement blades for it, clean up the used ones and replace with new blades as you go. That's what I ended up doing at the end of this deer season. The Spitfires are easy to clean and change out used blades. They seem to operate just fine, provided the body that holds the blades is still in good shape.
Speaking of hogs, I have a boar hanging around my deer feeders lately. Will let you know how the recycled Spitfires work once I am able to catch him doing some night dining.

I bought some of the G5 T3s at Academy on clearance a couple weeks ago. I haven't gotten to try them, but they look promising. My go-to is the NAP Spitfire... they aren't overly pricey and leave a big hole.

I finally have an update regarding the use of recycled Spitfire mechanical broadheads on hogs...they work just fine! After weeks of sitting out in the blind trying to ambush a pesky pig tearing up the area around my deer feeders, I finally managed to catch him in the open, right at sunset this evening. Thankfully, a cold front had just come through, and the wind was blowing in from the north at 15-20 mph, and he approached from upwind, so he couldn't smell me. Once he came up to the feeder and started browsing, I waited until he had his head down and was facing in my direction, about 20 yards away. Then, I put the crossbow sight right between his ears directly on his spine and let him have it. He let out a huge squeal and dropped immediately. About 20 seconds later it was all over. I'm just finally glad to be rid of this joker, after all the damage he's been causing. If you look between his ears on the bottom photo you can just make out the green nock of the PileDriver bolt I used, which I like using too, and it did its job well!

I have had good luck with 100g NAP Thunderheads. I've killed quite a few hogs (and one nice buck) with this broadhead and every one has been a pass through. But I like to experiment with different broadheads as well. The hog in this pic ran about 20 yds after a Thunderhead pass through.

Mercy! You buried that bolt in him. Nice shooting.
