Does any store(s) have any Federal Gold Medal Match 215M, I am looking to buy a couple thousand. I could not find any and set up alerts for any shipments they receive.

Those are like hens teeth. They are more expensive but I've yet to see a large rifle primer that would outshoot a BR2 in the SD/ES department. The 215M is close but I've not seen it beat a load yet. Also, take into account I don't have any big cases...I'm a kitty when it comes to recoil.

If I were to substitute Federal GM 215, what magnum primer is second best for large powder loads like the .300 Magnum? I recall Chad mentioning Federal Magnum 215 is best for 70+ grains powder.

Rem 9 1/2 M are the same "hottness" as the Fed 215's. Those would be a good substitute for the 215's. The CCI #250's would be ok for 70ish grains of powder. I have used them in my 300 WM loads, but prefer the 215. If the case has more than 80+ grains of powder, I will only use a Fed 215 primer. When I loaded some test loads of 338 Lapua ammo with 93+ grains of powder with a CCI #250, I had some hang fires. I spoke to ATK about it, and got an education on primers and how hot each primer really was.

I'm a kitty when it comes to recoil. True story. I can fix it, if you'll just trust me.

Anyone seen Federal 210m primers lately?
I am getting into reloading and they seem to be impossible to find.

Not sure but it seems like Federal must have a HUGE contract with some Government or manufacture providing their primers, I really think the same goes for H4350 If it's the U.S. government we are probably paying Federal $200 per 1K.

Bullets.com has them every know and then just keep checking daily and have your card ready, they go fast. IMO the 2nd best is CCI BR primers.

Yeah, its the regular 215's, but I am looking for the Gold Medal Match 215's. fwiw - I tested F210's next to F210M's in a decent 308 and could not see a difference on paper at 300 yards or 1,000. The only difference I could ever figure out is the red coating is uniform on the M's and not the regular ones, but there was no difference on paper. I still buy M's when they are available, but when they are not, the regulars work just fine. Unless you are going to the F-Class match at Camp Perry, don't think twice about it. At least buy some to tide you over until M's are available again. The regular 215's are better than CCI's for the big rounds as Chad mentioned above. Saw a real difference in a 300WM even at 200 yards. F215's are the go to for a big mag round.

Ok Jeff, thanks for the heads up. I had assumed that the 215M was better and hotter, but I'll give the Fed215 a try.

This might be why I was never really satisfied with load development on my 300wm/215 hybrids. I have a 1000 of these just hanging out in the storage cabinet. Guess I had better break into them and see if things improve. I had been running cci-250's. With the 180 gamekings, the cci-250's had been awesome, but not so much with the 215's.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

You're welcome Stan.
Huck,
the Berger 215 requires a 1:9" twist. The default twist for 300WM is 1:10". Might want to check the barrel. If it is 1:10" try the the Berger 210's, or 185's in addition to trying the different primer.
