For the last 10-12 years I have been shooting the recurves I built and would shoot 4" feathers on tapered cedar shafts and carbon arrows. Back when I was shooting my LX in the early 2000's, everyone was shooting 4" vanes for 3D and hunting set ups. The people who were shooting Blazer style vanes back then were doing indoor archery league shoots or doing 3D tournaments with metallic finished bows with stabilizers that were long and going in every direction off the bows. Now that I got my old LX back and joined a local archery club, I see everyone shooting Blazer vanes on their arrows. So recently I asked about them on here and you all were very helpful with answering my questions about them. thanks again for that. So I purchased a 1/2 dz Beman ICS Hunter Classic 400's that were fletched with 2" 3 degree offset Blazer vanes on them and finally got the chance to shoot them today. I am sold on these vanes! My arrows were definitely shooting fast and they were very accurate. Plus they cost so much less than 4" vanes. I am also happy that I can still use my Jojan fletching jig to install them. Academy Sports near me had them in stock and on clearance so I picked up two 36 packs for $12.00 total. I bought a couple of bare shafts today for paper tuning and will be fletching them up once I get everything all tuned up. I am also having no problems with window clearance when shooting them. I am definitely a Blazer vane fan now. I am going to see how they work with G5 Montec fixed broadheads. I would rather hunt with fixed blade broadheads. I am sure that I will get great flight with the 2" Blazers. I shot Spitfire's for years and got great groupings and arrow flight with them but I want to use fixed blades if possible. I had the Rage crossbow expandable broadheads open up in flight over 4 times with my Mission MXB-360 crossbow so I am taking that as a sign lol. Lost 3 Mission bolts using them because they hooked left and went in to a swamp and those bolts are too expensive to be losing them lol. So now I have 3 packs of Rage crossbow broadheads, tons of collar packs and extra blades for them that I will probably give to my buddy to use or sell them. Oh well lol. So now I am sold and pretty amazed on the performance of the Blazer vanes. Wish I gave them a try back when target shooters were using them.

How do you like those G5 Montec's? Are you getting good blood trails with them?

They work great. I shot a buck at 30 yards from my blind that's on a 5' tower and there was a crazy amount of blood. I had to actually bag up a pile of leaves with blood on them and take them out of the area so the deer wouldn't freak out and avoid the area. Then I sprayed the area down with scent killer. He was shot on the home made road right where a trail runs from left to right so I didn't want them smelling a pile of their own blood lol. He went less than 20 yards in to the tree line and died. The points are strong and I get good flight with them out of my MXB-360 crossbow.
