Been looking for quite awhile now. Anyone know when they will make some more? I am aware that Buffalo Bore makes a 38-55 cartridge that will work but I want the real thing. Even brass for re-loads is hard to acquire. Just venting I guess. texas

I bought Starline brass for my .38-55. I understand that you want "proper" .375 Winchester brass, but they're getting $120/$150 per bag on GunBroker. For now, just buy .38-55 brass at $27 per bag and go with the flow.

I appreciate it. True that the price is ridiculous! If I understand correctly, Winchester puts out a limited production each year. Anybody know when that may be? Just picked up some 38-55 for over $50 a box to be flowing.

It is also possible to make suitable (light) ammunition from 30-30 brass.
I make some this way and fire form them using a cast bullet. Not quite the same as true 375 but it keeps me shooting.

I've done the .30-30 to .38-55 routine, and I agree that it's an option if you've got no choice. That said, the Starline .38-55 brass is freely available for $27/bag. At most you might have to do a minor trim of the brass and run it through the .375 Winchester die. As always with these things, start with moderate loads and work your way up intelligently.

The only problem with using 30-30 or 38-55 for 375 Win is they head and brass are not as thick on those as with the 375 Win brass so load info will be different to an extent. start low and work up for sure watching for case expansion in the head area and the other pressure signs.

Interesting to see other 375 Win guys around. I have the Marlin, don't shoot it as much as I once did but going to put it into the deer hunting line up this year. I decided to put an XS system (scout scope mount & ghost ring sights) on it like a couple of my other Marlins.

I have used it quite a bit over the years for my hunting on my ranch and elsewhere in Texas. Even used it on a mule deer in Brewster County!

Largest hog taken on my ranch was killed with the 375 Win, lent my rifle to my BIL who was visiting from PA.

Back to the topic. I did get plenty lucky with 375 Win brass. I went into a Sportsman Warehouse that was closing and noticed that the brass had been drastically reduced. They actually had the 375 on the shelf. I asked them if they had more in the back and they brought out near a case of it. I bought it all.

I also have a Rossi Rio Grande that started life as a 30-30 Win. While it was new in the box, I sent it to JES and had it rebored & rechambered to 38-55 Win. I treat it just like the 375 Win and it is an awesome rifle. I've refinished the stock with since this picture was taken. This is really a nice rifle.

I have two .375s ! One in a Big Bore 94 and another in a T/C Contender pistol. I was lucky enough to buy about 10 boxes of loaded ammo years ago and still have most of it and all the brass. Haven't hunted with it in years, but the rifle used to be my go-to when hunting in the thick stuff. Killed many deer with it !

The .38-55 / .375 Winchester brass situation is all over the map. Supposedly some brands have exactly identical brass with differing headstamps. In other brands, the .38-55 brass, as you mentioned, is thinner. Starline makes two lengths of .38-55 brass, one at 2.080 (modern) and the other at 2.125 for older rifles and the .38-55 Ballard.

None of this should discourage you. Buy the shorter Starline cases, trim them down to 2.020, load them with sane loads and go shooting. At least the .375 Winchester doesn't have the bullet diameter confusion of the .38-55, which is another story.

Awesome!! I learned quite a bit already from this thread. Thanks. Guy I work with shoots a Contender .375 which is what got me interested, especially when I saw a hog he shot with it. I wanted to find more ammo for him. Ranch Dog, that's a great idea on that Rossi! Very cool.

Ranchdog you do have some fine toys and put them to good use.

I bet some of those have digested a lot of bullets from your bullet molds. cheers

EABCO has 375 brass made from 30-30 brass, not ideal but like they say on their site some brass beats no brass.

HEY GUYS!! Midway just sent me a link for some Winchester super-x 200grain .375 Winchester. Going for $45 box. Just picked up six if anyone is looking!! Only took a year but my friend is happy. The 38-55 we bought has been functioning flawlessly FYI.
