Have a buddy that hints near there and said it's hit or miss, but good deer numbers if you're not surrounded. Y a bunch of small places.

Tons of coyotes. Buddy decimated them at his place and deer bounced back. He has good, native genetics too

Coyote capital of texas. Some decent deer. Lots of pigs. Deer numbers low where we hunt, but we get nice bucks on camera every year. We only bowhunt the deer though so its tough.

I have been working around that area and see quite a bit of deer sign. Looks good, but yes lots of coyote sign too.

There were south Texas deer released in the area back in the 70's according the TPWD biologist, so there are some great genetics around the area. We have seen some good deer on camera, may be 1-2 near 140 every year. Nothing like that one in the pic above.
Success can depend on the lay out of your land. Lots of extremely thick woods that are near impossible hunt, or they are too thick to even hold deer frequently.
My family has owned land in Kosse for over 100 years, and I can say the deer population is WAY higher than it was even 7-8 years ago.
Poaching was (and still is to an extent) a huge problem. There was a period where we didnt go to a part of our land very often, and we found a small camp and a couple of blinds set up on our land.
In summary, the deer hunting can be good depending on your property. Dove hunting is excellent in drought years hunting near ponds...lately its been just mediocre.

I had a lease that was split, part in Limestone county, and part in Falls. I saw one deer, my buddy zero. That was three years ago. One guy on the lease took a good size 10 pointer though. The next year the guys on the lease sent picks of good numbers of deer, maybe it was a bad year?
It was an AR county then, probably still is. Lots of coyotes for sure, saw them almost every time i went out. Also has possible puddle jumping w ducks if you have a decent sized stock tank. Good rabbit hunting too.
I will say I prefer my Hill Country lease, hands down.
Adult late onset hunter. Why did I wait so long to get started?
