What's the best out of the box 257 weatherby. Looking to buy one that is accurate if possible.

Weatherby brand rifles come with a sub-MOA guarantee.

My 257 CDL-SF is more accurate than my Weatherby's but not by much.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

My buddy loves his Wby Sub-MOA rifles. Lots love a Vanguard II. I like my used $400 gun show Vanguard I just fine (it's nothing to look at but shoots great).
If looks are important, the 700 CDL is a very pretty rifle that will probably shoot just fine. IIRC they have a 26" barrel, which is a negative for me but might be a positive for some given the bit of added velocity it will wring out of an already fast round. I just prefer shorter rifles.
Personally, I lean towards Weatherby rifles for Weatherby cartridges. But that's just me.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Get a Weatherby Accumark Range Certified rifle. They will shoot it with several bullet weights and send targe s with best to use. Never seen one that wasn't around 1/2 moa.
You can get any weatherby mark v rifle range certified. If you want an economical price get a Vanguard they are guaranteed sub moa and if you take the time to try different bullet weights and loads you can get them below 1/2 moa. All of the new guns have great triggers too.

Weatherby mark V
It's a sin to shoot that round in any other rifle
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

The only Weatherbys with a sub MOA guarantee (3 shot group) are those with serial # ending with VB. Those ending with V, VL, VS and VX have a 1 1/2" guarantee (3 shots).

Blaser R8
I went through a WBY phase years ago, and I agree that they're great guns. All of my WBY-made .257 WBY rifles are Mark V actions, but I actually prefer the Vanguard Series 2 guns (really Howe guns) over the Mark V actions (at least the older Mark V actions - I haven't tried the new Mark V 2 series) even though I don't own one in a .257 WBY.
Having said that, I've primarily switched to shooting WBY calibered barrels in the Blaser R8 system, and I can assure you that is a potent long-range set-up. The Blaser trigger and action are superior, and its accuracy is like that of a custom rifle.
If you like the R8 and get a WBY barrel for it, I've noticed that my R8 WBY barrels prefer heavier bullets.

I thought all Weatherby rifles now come with a sub-MOA guarantee.

Certainly the Vanguards don't. They certainly do. Starting with the S2 all Vanguards come with a sub-MOA guarantee and now all Mark V's come with one too.

I thought it was only the Vanguard "RC" submodels that guaranteed sub-moa accuracy, but I guess that's not true.

A big issue and limiting factor I see in the 257 Wby is good, consistent ammo. Customers have given me high end, expensive factory ammo to use the brass and I have pulled the bullets on this ammo and weighed out the powder charges inside. The powder charge variation inside is STAGGERING. I've seen as high as 1.9 grain spread, with most factory ammo being about 1 grain spread on 20 or so rounds. I load precision ammo to within .02 grains, to the kernel of powder. The factory ammo was up to 1.9 grains- That's HUGE! This equates to large velocity swings, POI shifts, and certainly inconsistent groups. The smaller the opening for the brass (i.e., .257" caliber hole going up to the larger 30 cal and 338 cal holes) the worse the consistency is. They dispense powder by volume, and the smaller the hole the harder it is to get the powder to drop reliably. So the smaller calibers show the most powder charge variation. 257 Wby ammo options: http://dallasreloads.com/product-category/257-weatherby/Link to old thread: http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/5997533/1

That kind of disparity in the factory powder load is interesting as all the WBY factory ammo is loaded by Norma.
Did you note that in non-WBY manufactured ammo only?
