As far as jacket go with exterior material like Carhartt and Duluth , what is the warmest you have found?

Goose down for sure...I have a hunting coat made with goose down as the filler. Coat is somewhere around 20 years old and starting to show the age. Really hate to give it up.

Let me know what/why you decide and how you like it. My heavy coat (for hunting) is not enough...

I like the cathartic that is made of sweatshirt material.

Look at the cabelas winter jackets, many can be found on really good sale prices this time of year, some at ehalf off or more. I have the silent suede that is plenty hot enough for everything Texas has thrown at me with usually just a thermal shirt underneath. They have good gear if you get it on sale for a goood price.

I like the Wrangler Barn Coat. Very comfortable to wear and has plenty f pockets. I like to layer u when hunting because I know at some point I'm going to get hot. T-shirt base layer, hoodie mid layer, then the barn coat and um good for below freezing windy days.

I wear a Duxback that I bought over 20 years ago - don't even think they are still in business though. It is a combo deal - lighter shell jacket that zips into the parka for cold weather.

warmest hunting jacket I've worn tree stand hunting was the first lite sanctuary. Like a sleeping bag. They're pretty expensive though. Otherwise for working outside nothing wrong with the old Oklahoma tuxedo (carhart overalls, bib and jacket).

I have a couple of options when hunting.

I spent several hundred bucks on Cabelas brand coat and pants. Really good stuff, warm and comfortable. Mine are the burlap type shell, and quilted, with big pockets and heavy duty zippers. I wear mostly if in tree stand.

For just sitting in a box, nothing beats my Carhartt insulated coveralls. Inexpensive, warm, comfortable, and indestructible. With a sweatshirt underneath, I can stay warm in pretty cold weather.

For a long time I had a Wall brand coat. Very inexpensive, but really warm. Unfortunately it got stolen when my camper was burglarized several years ago and I've not ever found another like it.

Midway.com has an awesome line of clothing. They have different levels of warm so you can choose. I have their really warm stuff (pants and coat). They are quiet, warm, and about half the price of the Cabelas stuff. Got an e-mail this morning that they are also having a sale.

I've got an underarmour that's not bulky at all and it will make me sweat at any temperature. Think I snagged it on clearance under $100 at academy.

Go light weight and that equals down or polar tech. Too many of these coats mentioned are heavy.

In Texas you can start the morning wearing it but want it off by late morning. This is when the light weight is really appreciated and you can easily tie it around your waste or attach to your pack.

Drake made a goose down jacket pretty warm, exterior not quite like Duluth/Carhartt.
Can't go wrong with Carhartt! Tried-and-True.

I picked up a Browning 650 down jacket about a decade ago for $79. I have tried many before and since - wool, lightweight down, synthetic filler, Carhartt, etc. But that old Browning is my go-to for all around use. It's getting pretty worn, so I just got the updated version (Browning 750 down) for $89.

Warm, lightweight, packable. They're hard to beat.

M65 field jacket and liner. You can find them at you local army surplus store for about $50. Greatest coat ever made.
