I'm getting a ugly ring around the bullet just below the red. Deep enough to notice it ain't right.
I've used my RCBS and Lee seating dies with the same result.

I've not had this problem with 178 Amax in 308 or 40 Amax in my hornet.

Any ideas.

It ain't easy being me.

Might need a different seating stem in your die. Sounds like you are hitting on the round edge of the hole in the seating stem on that part of the bullet.

Yep kinda what I figured. I looked on midway and didn't see seating stem options.
Not loading anymore 75s till I get it right.

Call your die manufacture and they should be able to help you

You mean like this

DStroud nailed it. The standard seating stem in most dies are not set up hold the long skinny match bullets like the VLD or Amax style, and will leave a ring from the seating stem.

You can also pull your seating stem out, chuck up an Amax in a drill and use some valve grinding compound, metal glow or Flitz to polish the stem. My redding stem was doing this to some 69 TMK's for my 223ai, and after a little polishing on the stem, things are much better.

Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

The Hornady stem only works for Hornady dies according to midway.

I reduced the load a little to make more room for the bullet hence less force to seat. No ring.

If I like these bullets I will consider a new die set with proper stem. Not really seeing that happening with so many options.

I would still call the manufactures of your dies and check on a VLD seater stem before buying new dies

Yes, for the 223 competition seating die and it works great with the 75 AMAX. Redding PN 55742
