I'm going to be reloading 178 ELD-X in 300 win mag and I found what I was looking for on the Hornady website.

I'm going to be reloading 178 ELD-X in 300 win mag and I found what I was looking for on the Hornady website. I saw that, seems 178 ELD-X is a bit light to me, I use it for the .308 as well. Looks like my other option for the moment is to use H1000.

You can safely piggy back any reloading data for the 208 A-max, 210 Berger VLD, and most of the 210 grain weight class. R25 would be a decent powder for this combo. R25 max charges 73.5- Berger 210 VLD 74.7- Hornady 220 RN Alliant R25 recipes for 300 WM: http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/powderlist.aspx?type=1&powderid=16&cartridge=141On the Alliant site, if you select "Products", then "Rifle", and click on R25, you can see the "View All Reloder® 25 Recipes", and select 300 Win Mag, and it will list all the loads for R25 in 300 WM. It's a decent source.

There is data for 200 gr bullets and 220 gr bullets and based off that I would start at 74.0 and work up in .5 gr increments. Max for the 220 gr is 74.9 and Reloder says the max for 200gr is 75Gr so that is enough to get you going in the right direction Chad is a quicker typer so.... what he said Also the Chad said 74.7 with the 220 but my new Hornady manual says 74.9 so could be it changed with new book.

Thanks Chad / Stroud,,,is it possible to push the 180's to 3200 fps and the 200's to 3,000? I know that you will tell me to work up, just too impatient to wait for an answer till I get to the range, lol. I loaded up some 212's with H1000 / Fed215's / Norma brass last night,,, from 75 to 77.4 grains. I am sure H1000 will not be as fast as the RL 25 / 26, but its a start after breaking it in.
My 7 Mag with 168 VLD has impressive speed at 3,050 to 3,080 with RL 25 but backed off to 3,050 for accuracy.

I'm pushing a 208 A-max at 2950, and a 225 BTHP at 2840 fps (which is FAST). I'm running a 29" tight bore (.298") barrel. I have pushed a 190 SMK to 3050 fps in a 27" barrel, and a 180 grain about 3100-3150. These are up there in the max or slightly over book max powder charges on most of them.
Your H1000 and 212 loads are getting up there, depending on your seating depth (which is a key factor in pressure).

Thanks again Chad for the heads up. I'll post results from the range soon.
