I have used nothing but Bushnell Banner scopes my whole life so far. haha. The other day I was cleaning my gun and putting up all of my deer hunting stuff, Held my gun up and the crosshairs inside were messed up. I must have banged it somehow or somewhere. I don't remember doing this due to I'm normally careful with my rifle, and now I'm upset. Well, best way to get over it is to start shopping for a new scope. I might try something different on my 25-06 this next season. Any suggestions on what would be a good scope to check out? Farthest range I will need to site in is about 200 hundred yards. I also want something that brings in good light for that dusk to dawn shooting.

Are you going to shoot longer than 200?

My budjet is up 300 dollars, and no Cleric, My spot's farthest shot really tops out at 170-185 yds before hitting wooded area, but only made that shot once. I do hunt a place where I could take a shot over 200, but I only hunt there twice a year with my buddy, and most shots I make there are at 100 and less...seen some deer way off but I don't know if I would ever take that shot.

So in reality, my average shot is really 100 yds down to 75, but I have made a shot out to 180 range before. Last scope was sited all the way to 200.

Vortex Diamondback, Nikon Prostaff or Leopold...all three great choices and can be had for less than your budget.

I have a Bushnell Ultra HD 3-9x50 on a 243 that has been a good scope for me. Fits your price range as well with a bit better glass than the Banners you're use to.

What every you buy needs to have a Lifetime No Fault Warranty...and lots of mfg'ers are now providing that Cust Svc Feature as a way to compete without any Price Cutting.

IMO I'd shop CameraLand of NY's Minox ZV3 that are on apprx a 40% off from List sale right now, that start at $100 shipped for a 3x9x40 1" tube Plex, or a 3x9x50 Plex at $120 shipped and what I'd suggest given your budget and lack of need for anything in a LR range scope.

IMO The very best bargain buy CLNY has is a Meopta (builds Ziess's glass) 3.5x10x44 at $350 that they offer as an exclusive. Cabela's Euro Series scopes are all built by Meopta and you can see the shipping tags that are ID'd that way.

Also watch Cabela's for deals like the Vortex Viper HS 30mm 2.5x10x44 they had for a Black Fiday deal @ $250 & Free Rings - that when they sold out of the 30mm Vortex rings in the scope/ring pkg deal, then offered 30mm Warne Maxima Steel Rings at no charge too, that I'm asap putting on the nib Marlin XL7 SS 270 I traded for 2 weeks ago.

CLNY will have some SHOT Show killer deals in the next few weeks too..they always find a limited supply of a closeout/volume deal from some mfg'er or another.

+1 on Ron's advice. I have three of the Minox 3-9x40 and one 4.5-14. You will be hard pressed to find a better scope for the price. JMHO

I think Cabela's has a sale on those Diamondbacks right now. I will look at CameraLand here in a bit.

If you are satisfied with it, mail it back. I have done so with 3 different brands and each time they mailed me a new one or even a upgraded version. Just a thought if your looking to save money.

My choices in order of preference for $200.00 and under:
The Minox from Camerland for $99.00, it's also the least expensive.
Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40
Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40

Over $200.00 would be the Cameraland Meopta.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
