Do y'all happen to know what the state regulations are regarding taxidermy of fur-bearing animals taken on privately owned land by the land owner? I have read the TX Fur-Bearing Animal regulations several times, and I get confused the more I read them, especially between Recreational Harvest vs. Commerical Harvest and their seasons overlapping. I'm not a commercial trapper, and If I shoot a raccoon, fox, etc., in the act of depredation on my land, I don't want to get in any trouble if I decide to take the animal to a taxidermist as an afterthought. Can anyone help clarify the rules about this?

You can can a million all year long as long as your not skinning and selling, and you do not need a trappers license. If you were to sell a fur bearer to a buyer or anyone for that matter you need a trappers license. A hunting license is all you need to sen it to a taxidermist. No monetary gain for you so no trappers license needed

Thanks for the info. I ended up talking to the taxidermist that normally handles my deer mounts, and he basically told me the same thing you did, i.e. as long as I'm not selling them or making any sort of profit from them, I'm good to go to get the critters mounted. grin
