Our last day to hunt was yesterday - today was sad - thinking about waiting another 9 months to get to do it all over again is a downer! Now is the time to start killing time till next October - golf and vacations are just fillers

Although --------- wife and I celebrating our 40th in April and going to SCI in two weeks to book a Spain hunt for Ibex - not the same as whitetail but will kill some time before next season

I'd much rather go to Spain and hunt ibex than whitetail

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

If I was still going to be hunting that place, it would. Looks like I will not be getting back on...so he will be out there for someone else. I had my chance and blew it...going to miss that place.

As soon as Spring gets hot I start looking to ambush as many axis as I can on my "little patch of dirt" (as one "expert" on here has called it). Hell, that's just a few weeks away.

I'm going to do a major overhaul on the place and actually set up the side of the property that is a pain to access to get more doe movement across the place. Penned in gravity and corn feeders (a cpl local guys have found the bucks will actually eat pelletized rice bran in the gravity feeders the whole time rut runs and heavy anytime temps dip from the gravity feeders). So dozer will get dropped off next week and I'll get rolling with that.

It was new to me too. I hadn't seen it locally, but I guess I had no reason to ask about it.

I have looked into feeding rice bran, but haven't ever seen it even mentioned in a pellet...going to have to look into it.

I quit feeding the meal bc I couldn't see it if I put it under the trees to keep the dew off of it. But I'm willing to put this in a feeder and give it a go. I tried to go back to a corn/protein mix to end the season and the bucks left my feeder. Picky little rascals.

Hogs too.

Season is 12 months long.

Doe and spike season is still running. We have two more weeks and intend to invite some family and friends to knock a couple more down for the year.

I have enough stuff I have to get done that the off season is sometimes welcome, gives me time to look forward to the next year and what the good young ones turn into next season. Need to do some finish up work on the camp and rebuild a pole barn.

Love predator hunting but we don't have hogs. I still hunt in the off season but deer are my passion, the other stuff is just a bonus.

Never would have thought it would happen. A couple years ago hogs ruined our hunting season, they would bust almost every hunt in some way or another. We penned two of our five feeders and this year we only saw hogs 3-4 times all year and only shot 1.

For 23 years we have said "any day now." Hope we can say it another 23 years. They are fun to hunt...on someone else's property
